High Yield: Brightline

The “Grace Period” granted by investors to Brightline (East) runs out on June 15th, which is less than a month away. Ernst & Young, in Brightline’s 2025 financial statements filed with the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, explicitly stated that the company “does not currently have the liquid funds necessary to service its debt and meet such other obligations as they become due.” The auditor warned: “However, substantial doubt remains as to the ability of the Company to continue as a going concern.” That’s bad news.

Good news is Brightline carried more than 3.1 million passengers in 2025, a 13% increase from 2024.
